Dana Steven Carter "Steve", 66, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer at Norton Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Steve loved the Lord and fought the good fight. He was deeply loved by his family. He was always ready to offer prayers or give an encouraging bible verse.
He was a former long time member of Wise First Church of God. He was a skilled gunsmith, enjoyed spending his time outdoors, and had a tenderness for animals big and small.
He was a graduate of J.J. Kelly High School and a heavy equipment operator for over thirty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Ina Carter; brother, Carlos Carter; brother, David Carter; and sister, Diana C. Mullins.
Surviving are his daughter, Terra Lee (Tim); his son, Brandon Carter (Crystal); his daughter, Sharona Burke (Jon); his daughter Stephanie Collins (Matthew); his 12 grandchildren; his brother, Edward Carter (Kazia) and family; his sister, Anita C. Healy and family; his longtime companion, Janet Owens, her daughter Chrissy Grisby and family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
