BRADY - Glenda Mae (Dodds) Barker, age 84 passed away Friday, August 6, 2021, in Brady. Glenda was born in Voca, Texas on May 12, 1937, to Charles Arnold Porter Dodds and Lola Lillie Mae (McBee) Dodds.
She graduated from Brady High School in 1955 and married Billy Wayne Barker on June 25, 1955, in Brady.
She was a 25-year employee at Brady Butane where she enjoyed helping many customers. Glenda was a member of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ and the Heart of Texas Hospital Women's Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was an excellent cook, and for many years took pleasure in baking and delivering cookies and cakes to many friends.
Glenda is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Wayne; infant daughters, Laura Gay and Lori Gail; parents, Charles and Lola Dodds; two brothers, Bill Dodds and Charles Dodds; and two sisters, Lillie Ruth Elder and Victoria Covill.
She is survived by one son, Mark Barker (partner Christine Harrell) of San Antonio; two daughters, Beth Rhodes (companion Kenny Hunter) of Granbury, Texas and Kara Daniel (husband David) of Brady; five grandchildren, Craig Barker and Starla Barker, Justin Daniel, Erin Turner, and Claire Rhodes; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime friend Fred Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Heritage Funeral Home of Brady.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Heritage Funeral Home of Brady with Gaylon Morris, officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Williams, Jim Ed Locklear, Justin Daniel, Craig Barker, Fred Johnson, T. Don Dodds, Corey Dodds, and Kevin Dodds.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of San Angelo.
