He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Coy Smith; and mother, Dorothy Blakeney Smith.
Survivors include his one daughter, Lenore Dale Smith of California; two brothers, Joe Carl Smith and his wife, Barbara, of Laurel, and Garland Smith of Taylorsville; three sisters, Elaine Hankins and her husband, Carrol; Jane Polk and her husband, Dean; and Frances Hodge, all of Taylorsville; three nephews, Dawayne Smith of Laurel, Clint Smith and his wife, Stephanie, of Laurel, and Donovan Smith and his wife, Maggie, of Taylorsville; and four nieces, Connie Atwood and her husband, Kerry, of Taylorsville, Melissa Chandler and her husband, James, of Mize, Lauren Hodge of Taylorsville, Amy Walters and her husband Brian, of Laurel; and host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kerry Atwood, Conner Atwood, Cade Atwood, Donovan Smith, Dawayne Smith, and Clint Smith.
