Shirley (Mahr) McWilliams Holmes, 91, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021.
She was born January 23, 1930, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Daniel and Amelia (Krumm) Mahr. She graduated from Lincoln High School and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska.
Shirley was employed by the Lincoln Public Schools at Meadow Lane Elementary for many years.
Ms. Holmes was a member of PEO Chapter GK and First Lutheran Church, of Topeka. She was also a former long-time member of First Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Shirley married Ronald McWilliams in 1951. She then married James Holmes in 1969. Survivors include daughters, grandson and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husbands Ronald McWilliams and Jim Holmes and her son Bruce McWilliams.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, August 16th at 9:30 AM at the First Lutheran Church, 1234 SW Fairlawn Road in Topeka. The family will greet friends starting at 9:00 AM. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 PM at Bennet Cemetery in Bennet, Nebraska.
