Daughter of Irene and Gordon Wells. She was a 1960 graduate of Istrouma High School. She earned a B.S. in Education from LSU, 1964, and a Master's degree in counseling from Southeastern University in 1997. From an early age, she wanted to be a Spanish teacher. She lived in Mexico City and Nicaragua so that she could be immersed in the Spanish language and to be better able to educate others. Between the teaching and counseling employments she had in East Baton Rouge Parish from 1964 to 2016, she worked at Broadmoor High School, Prescott Junior High, Scotlandville Middle Magnet, Zachary High School, and The Brighton Academy. She was also interested in genealogy. She was a long time member of Parkview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death were her parents; and daughter, Kristi May- also of Baton Rouge. She leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Martin (Marty) and Tonya Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Brian Manix; son-in-law, David May; grandsons, Brayden Wilson, Hunter Wascom and Hudson May; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Dr. Lynn Aurich; brother and sister-in-law, Randall (Randy) and Martha Wells; brother, Alex Holtsford and his family in Montgomery, AL; nephew, Dr. David Aurich; and niece, Dr. Susan Aurich.
