Barbara Ann (Barto) Erickson May, 82, of St. Anne, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, with her daughter at her side at Seasons Hospice in Naperville after suffering a major stroke.
Barbara was born on June 10, 1939, in Peru, Illinois, to John and Rena (Pozzi) Barto. She was a graduate of La Salle-Peru Township High School. She married her high school sweetheart, George Erickson, and they were married for 27 years before his death on September 24, 1986. She later married Joseph May on June 15, 1995, on Captiva Island, Florida.
Barbara will be remembered as being very kind and compassionate and always putting others before herself, especially when it came to her family. She loved to talk and took a sincere interest in everyone she met. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she would do anything for them.
She is survived by her husband Joseph May of St. Anne, Illinois, her only child Lori Erickson (John) Swanson of Pickerington, Ohio, her stepchildren Colette May of Evanston, Illinois, and Michael May of St. Anne, Illinois, and her grandchildren Tyler, Trevor, and Troy Swanson of Pickerington, Ohio, and Madeleine May of Evanston, Illinois.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 16, 2021, at St. Joseph's Church, Peru, with Rev. J.A. Small officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, La Salle. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.
