Husband of Maudie. Mayflower descendant of Gov. William Bradford. He was named after his grandfather George Washington Bradford.

Born in 1888 at Clear Springs to John S. Bradford & Mary E. Boone. George lived quite a colorful life. When he left this area at age 16, he joined a circus, driving a wagon for the organ grinder, then to Denver, Colo. helping build the first streets and water lines, made explosives in Chicago, then on to Baltimore, Md., Ohio and Hopewell, West Virginia where he became an ice-man. In Cincinnati, OH, he worked on the railroad, then on to coal mines in KY where he stayed for some time, becoming a union bank boss and marrying Maudie Combs. He came back to Missouri in 1920 where he was a farmer, well-known molasses maker, long-time Democratic Committeeman, School board member, blacksmith, Texas Co., constable, local ball team manager, sawmill operator, laborer helping build 137 and Y highways, owner of a general store at Clear Springs, mail carrier, and father. He was preceded in death by his wife Maudie in 1975. Funeral services were held for Mr. Bradford Feb. 9, 1981 in Clear Springs Church.

George Bradford, age 92, lost his life during a fire in the home where he lived with his son Gene Bradford and family.
