Jerry Dale Ross, "JD", age 80 of Joliet, IL, departed to be with the Lord February 28, 2020. Jerry was born June 24th, 1939 in Switzer West Virginia. Born to Martin and Carrie Ross and raised by Oscar and Opal Dingess of West Virginia. In 1960 he married Velva Conley and later united in marriage to JoAnn King on October 15, 2005.

Jerry was a business owner of JD's Tire Clinic from 1979-1986 in his community of Joliet, IL. He later retired from 28 years of service at Ecolab in 2005. Jerry was also a former President of the East Joliet Sanitary District. His passion and love for Jesus Christ led him to sing Bass for the Gospel Group the "Happy Hearts". He loved Bluegrass and Southern Gospel music as well as the comic strip "Pickles" from the Herald News. He had a passion for writing gospel songs and poems. One of his published poems was titled "My Log Cabin Home".

Jerry is survived by two children Barry Conley and Terrie Casillas, 4 stepchildren Rev. Ed (Debby) King, Annette (Dick) Johnson, Joy Counts and Teresa (Mike) Hicks. He was Paw Paw to Amanda Calvert, Joshua Casillas, step grandchildren Christina (Zack) Freeman, Rev. Nathan "Nate" (Kelly) King, Brandon Hicks, Matthew (Amme) Hicks, Robert (Kelli) Spenard, Amy (Josh) Ware and Zack Counts. Great Grandpa to Kara Casillas, Angel Casillas, Saul Casillas, Makayla Calvert, Karissa Calvert, Owen Freeman, Braden Freeman, Brooke King, Jordan King, Ashley Rossini, Kaley Rossini, Jaxin Hicks, Brextin Hicks, Lily Hicks, Olivia Spenard, Ben Spenard and Austin Ware. He was also Great-Great Grandpa to Jayden Casillas and Journey Casillas.

Jerry is preceded in death by his son Jerry Daren Ross, his first wife Velva Ross, his parents, four brothers and two infant sisters.

His family would like to say "Thank you" to everyone for their love, support and prayers. There will be a Memorial Service at Delgado Funeral Services Inc., 400 Landau Ave. Joliet, IL 60432. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3rd, 2020 from 4-6 p.m., Service will be from 6-7 p.m.

Rev. Willie Sills Officiating and songs will be provided by Rev. Ed King. Special Thank you to Harmony Community Church under the leadership of Rev. Nathan King and First Gospel Community Church under the leadership of Rev. Linda Cooper.

Cremation rites will be accorded at Jerry's request and burial will be at a later date with his final Resting Place in the Conley Cemetery in Harts Creek, West Virginia.
