Don graduated from Cornell University. Don retired from United States Postal Service in Ithaca, NY, moving to Virginia Beach for year-round golf. Don was a member at the Owl's Creek Golf Course golfing five days a week, proud of his ten-holes in one. Don enjoyed league bowling with the Sassy Seniors and Golden Oldies at Pinboy's Bowling Center. Don was an avid reader, a passionate card player always ready for a game of Pinochle.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice F. Ward. He is survived by his sister, Beverly W. Osgood, his son, Daniel G. Ward, and daughters Donna W. Hauck and son-in-law Steven B. Hauck, Patricia A. Randolph, Deborah S. Ward, and wife Marie J. Murray. Don had many grandchildren; Jessica Gibson, Kristen Bay, Daniel Hauck, Lydia Ward, Melissa O'Brien, Michael Randolph, and great-grandchildren; Amanda Gibson, Julia Gibson, Rebecca Gibson Brody Bay, Austin Bay, Hudson Hauck, Harper Hauck, Ellie O'Brien, Piper O'Brien, and Robert "Knox" O'Brien.
On Sunday, April 3, 2022, a celebration of life will be held at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach. Don will be laid to rest with his beloved soul mate, Irene Rossi. Arrangements by Bucktrout Funeral Home.
