Wounded in 1943 from shrapnel when a tank drove over a landmine while training with anti-tank field artillery in a California portion of the Mohave Desert. Death resulted after a second operation for his wounds at the Brecksville VA Hospital.

Member of the DAV and Wendell L. Willkie American Legion Post 19.

Resided at 89 S. Maple Street.

Married to Marguerite Bannon at the time of his death, she was a WAC during WWI and would become a SSgt (Med Tech) in the USAF after the war.
