Daughter of the late William and Martha Ballek,

Dr. Singleton was a 1962 graduate of A.L. Miller High School. She attended Georgia Southern University, receiving a degree in Education Administration and Supervision in 1967. That is also where she met the love of her life, Jake, they were married for 44 years. She received her Master's in Education at Mercer University in 1977 and her Doctorate of Education from University of Georgia in 1983. A long-time educator in Bibb County, she held several positions but she is remembered most by her time as Principal at McKibben Lane and T.D. Tinsley, always referring to being a Principal as the "best job in the world". She was passionate about her work as an educator and touched many lives throughout her career. She was also an avid reader and loved to crochet.

The thing that brought her the most joy and was her favorite thing to do was spend time with her three granddaughters who affectionately called her "Tita".

She was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church where she led several Bible studies.

Mrs. Singleton was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul "Jake" Singleton, Jr.

Dr. Singleton is survived by her daughter, Amy Poland (Brad) of Forsyth; grandchildren, Alex McKayla Poland, Payton Louise Poland and Molly Dean Poland; sisters, Donna Scarborough (Fred) of Bluffton, South Carolina and Billie Barnes (Mike) of Adel, Georgia; sister-in-law, Faye Miller (Butch) of Snellville, Georgia; niece, Julie Merwin (Scott); nephews Nathan Barnes (April) and Brian Miller (Kelli); great nieces and nephews, Bri, Will, Lindsey, Kennedy, Cael and Drew; and her beloved Malti-shu, Dixie.

The family would like to express our love and appreciation to all her wonderful caregivers who have been with her the last four years.
