Jonathan, 68, of Caro, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Jon was the son of Elmer D. Rice and the late Betty Jean (Taylor) Rice

He was a 1970 graduate of Lapeer High School. He was united in marriage with the former Robbin Hoffman on July 7, 1989 in Caro, and she survives. He was employed for more than thirty years at the Caro Regional Center in a supervisory capacity. Jon was a musician at heart and played drums, keyboard, and guitar, and even writing his own music and lyrics. Jon was an avid history buff, enjoyed collecting coins, and was a certified numismatist. He enjoyed golf and watching game shows and sports on television, especially the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. Most importantly, Jon cherished time spent with his grandchildren.

Jon is survived by his loving wife of thirty-two years, Robbin Rice of Caro; one daughter, Erin Johnson and husband, Jeff; four grandchildren, Parker, Zach, Sully, and Lindsey; his father, Elmer Rice; three siblings, Deb Watt, Tim Rice and wife, Denise, Jodi Rogers and husband, Larry; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Jon was preceded in death by his son, Zachary James Rice.

In keeping with Jon's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday, July 23, 2021 with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday until the time of the service.
