Joyce Bown (nee Chircoski) was born in Iroquois Falls, Ontario where she grew up with nine siblings and then later worked for Abitibi as a Stenographer. The Abitibi Paper Mill Office is where she met her future husband Thomas Bown (born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia) it was when he travelled from the Abitibi Toronto in October 1956. They were married at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Iroquois Falls on May 18, 1957 and began a married life in Toronto where she started a family, a son then a daughter. They eventually moved to Kitchener and were married for 18 years until Tom's untimely death.
Joyce was a devoted Catholic and will be forever missed but lovingly remembered for her kind heart, beautiful spirit, sense of humour and giving nature. I (Marina) have always admired her will, courage and optimistic outlook on life. I was fortunate to have Mom (Nanny) help me raise Jake for his first 3 years of his life during a difficult period. I couldn't have done it without her. We are blessed that God chose Joyce for our Mom who took care of us and raised us on her own after our Father passed away.
Our gratitude goes out to the exceptional staff at Grand River Hospital and the caring, professional health care providers from ParaMed. An extra special thank you from me (Marina) goes out to her son Patrick for tending to all Mom's needs and making her final days at home as comfortable as he possibly could. Also we would like to acknowledge Nurse Bobbi for taking such tender care of our Mom as she considered you her friend. We are genuinely grateful to all of you.
A small private service will be held for close family and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home in Kitchener. The Service will be performed by Father Raphael Ma from St. Francis RC Church.
