Thomas, son of John Wood and Isabel Hazen, was born in Bradford, Essex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America in 1691. The actual month of his birth has been reported as both October and November. The hand-written version of Massachusetts, Town Clerk and Town Records, 1626-2001, Bradford Births reads: "Tho. son of John and Isabell Wood, 28 Oct. 1691." The printed version of Massachusetts, U. S. Town and Vital Records, Bradford Births (page 171), however, reads: "Thomas, s. John and Isabel, Nov. 28, 1691." The Early Settlers of Rowley by George Blodgett acknowledges this discrepancy with an included notation: "Thomas, b. 28 November 1691 (28 Oct. Ct. R.)"

Thomas, like his grandfather, was a carpenter. On 26 January 1719/20, Thomas married Experience Abell at the West Farms (Norwich) Church. Much later in 1786, part of Norwich became Franklin. The church is now known as The Congregational Church of Franklin. (Early Connecticut Marriages)

"Thomas settled on 'Potapaug' Hill, near the Shetucket River, now in the township of Franklin, Conn." (The Wood family, Sackville, N. B., being a genealogy of the line from Thomas Wood, of Rowley, Mass, born about 1634 to Josiah Wood, of Sackville, N. B., born in 1843, James Allen Kibbe, page 10)

Thomas and Experience had ten children in Norwich. All their births are recorded in Connecticut Births and Christenings. The children (with birth dates based on the Gregorian calendar) are:
Annie, b. 14 June 1721
Abiah, b. 14 October 1723
Benjamin, b. 7 September 1725
Martha, b. 23 October 1727
Ruth, b. 19 January 1730
Zebedee, b. 30 March 1732
Bela, b. 17 March 1734
Luce, b. 5 August 1735
Phinehas, b. 20 September 1737
Amy, b. 28 February 1739

The date of death and burial location for Thomas is not known. The book Hazen Family in America by Tracy Elliot Hazen (on page 32) indicates Thomas was "Living at Norwich, Conn., 22 Jan 1764." Therefore, we know he died sometime after this. No primary source (tombstone, death record, obituary) has been found to indicate the actual date of death.
