Margaret Haugdahl Cox, 91, of Temple Terrace passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

She was born November 3, 1929, in Daytona Beach, FL, the daughter of Sigurd and Margaret Haugdahl. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James "George" Cox; her parents; siblings, Sigurd Haugdahl and Elizabeth Becil; daughter, Kathryn "Katie" Neill; and grandson, Barrett "Bear" Townsend.

She is survived by many family members: Helen Townsend (Jack), Matthew Cox, Mark Cox (Kris); Keyla Otero(Nick); brother, Eric Haugdahl (Mel); sisters-in-law, Angela Kirby (Rick) and Kathryn Hardy (Dick); grandchildren, Light, Jake, Megan, Brigette, Kathryn, MacKenzie and Cassio; six great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends. The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional, loving caregivers, Selene Leon, Marleine Metelus, Cherine Isaacs and Bianca Daniels who were constantly with her throughout the last years.

Margaret grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, attended St. Joseph Academy through high school, the University of Florida in 1948 and finished college at the University of South Florida in 1970. She met George, on a blind date. They were married in 1951 and lived a life filled with adventures.

With State Farm Insurance Co they moved to Tampa in 1956 then to Temple Terrace shortly thereafter and never left. Margaret raised four children, the neighborhood kids and all the friends her children brought home. She was a school, church and community volunteer. She was a founding member of Corpus Christi Church and drove for Meals on Wheels for 20 years and loved her many bridge groups.

Her home was the gathering place where she hosted the most amazing parties, holiday celebrations, and cookie days. She loved her Norwegian heritage, gardening, traveling, theater, classical music, playing bridge, cooking, Saturday garage sales and the "Antique Road Show", but the most important part of her life was her family.

She was welcoming, kind, sassy, smart, thrifty, graceful, and pragmatic. Her life was a part of that "Great Generation" and she moved through life with great confidence. We will miss her!

A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 13 at 11:00AM at Blount and Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel or viewed online via Facebook livestream. Inurnment at Florida National Cemetery will be held later.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifePath Hospice, Meals on Wheels or Heifer International. Words of comfort may be expressed at blountcurryterraceoaks.com.
