Mark Andrew Brooks, age 64, passed away at his home in rural Lake Crystal on August 7, 2021.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., in North Mankato with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Minneopa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to Feeding America Backpack Program or the Ronald McDonald House.
Mark was born February 19, 1957 in Manhattan, Kansas to Robert Scott Brooks and Priscilla Jane (Walker) Brooks. In 6th grade, he relocated with his family to Mankato, Minnesota where he graduated from Mankato West High School. He went on to graduate from Mankato State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. He worked for Thin Film Technology for 27 years where he had multiple patents in his name. His family is very proud of his accomplishments in technology. Previous to retirement, Mark worked at Pro Fabrication of Madison Lake for 4 years working to get the company ISO certified.
Mark enjoyed traveling the world and telling stories of his adventures to his loved ones upon his return home. He loved being with family and friends.
Mark loved creating and listening to music; and everyone who knew him well, enjoyed evenings of music and fun out at the 'farm' and in his man cave. He referred to the farm as his own piece of paradise. He always looked forward to the Friday night crew. He also had a passion for playing his bass guitar. He was a fun-loving jokester with a quirky and creative personality. Mark's endearing personality will be missed by so many.
Mark is survived by his significant other and best friend, Linda Brown; his son Zachary Brooks of Mankato his son, Josh (Toni) Brown of Richmond, Minnesota; his daughter, Jamie (Mark) Nelson of Bloomington, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Rylee (16) and Grady Brown (13) and Harper Nelson (7); siblings, Alice Musburger (James) of Litchfield, Minnesota and John (Judy) Brooks of North Mankato; and several nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Priscilla Brooks.
