Joseph Dineen, 86, of Middletown, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at Willow Knoll Retirement Community. He was born in Middletown, on July 22, 1920 to William R. and Ella (Carney) Dineen.

Joe served his country in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He worked in production planning for Armco Steel Corporation, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church and was an avid golfer.

Mr. Dineen is survived by his daughter, Maureen (John) Smith of Ft. Wayne, IN; son, Kevin (Kim) Dineen of Middletown; a brother, Desmond Dineen of Middletown; six grandchildren, Allen Smith, Ted Smith, Aidan Smith, Caroline Bier, Emily Dineen, Colin Dineen; and three great grandchildren, Kyrsten McGuinness, Natalie Smith, and Sabrina Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathleen J. Dineen in Sept 2001; children, Pat Dineen, Dennis Dineen, and Tim Dineen; his parents; brothers, Bob Dineen, William Dineen, Dan Dineen, and Michael Dineen; and sisters, Mary Bishop, Irene Dineen, and Evelyn Kramer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 22, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
