A native of Lead, S.D., he was an employee of Star Paper Tube. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Daniel Joseph Chicoine was born 20 Sep 1952 in Lead, South Dakota, a son of Raymond Lewis Chicoine (native of Burlington, Vermont) and Rebecca Ann Holt (a native of Hettinger, North Dakota).
Prior to his widow, he was thrice married. First in 1972 in Burlington, VT to Theresa A. Corron, a daughter of Jeremiah and Emma (Bissonnette) Corron. To this marriage was born a son, Joseph, possibly Daniel Joseph Chicoine, Jr.
He married second in 1977 in Milton, VT to Lucille Ellen "Lucy" Gaudette, a daughter of Norris L. and Lena (Dubie) Gaudette. To this marriage was born two daughters, Jennifer Marie Chicoine (born in 1978) and Christine Rebecca Chicoine (born in 1980). During this marriage he was living in Nashville, Tennessee.
He married third in 1981 in Camden, SC to Ruby "Ophelia" Williams, a daughter of Jesse D. and Alice (Hines) Williams, of Camden, SC. To this marriage was born a daughter, Amanda Renee Chicoine (born in 1982).
He married for the fourth and final time in 1997 in Spartanburg, SC to Rosalie "Rose" Fleming, a daughter of Benjamin and Helen Howe Fleming.
