Catherine (Cathy) Marie Mayes, 59 of rural Monroe City, Missouri passed away Monday, August 11, 2021 at the Hannibal Regional Hospital, Hannibal, Missouri.
She was born February 10, 1962 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Benton Lee and Elizabeth Ann Pruitt King.
Cathy was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Quincy, Illinois. She previously worked for Intermet Tool and Die of Monroe City, Missouri. She was a 1981 graduate of Louisiana High School, Louisiana, Missouri. Cathy was an avid "sports fan" she loved St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, Pitsburgh Steelers Football and Nascar Racing (Tony Stewart). She was an excellent cook and loved to fish. Most of all Cathy loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren who she loved very much.
She married Samuel (Sam) Parker Mayes, March 16, 1991, he survives of the home.
Also surviving two sons Robbie Johnson (Amber Keethler) and Jeff Johnson (Amanda) both of Bowling Green, Missouri; three daughters Alicia Black (Hank), Heather Wisdom (Brian) both of Monroe City and Erin Kunkendell (Stephen) of Louisiana, Missouri; One brother Benton Leeking, II (Diane) of Quincy, Illinois, two sisters Christine Boehlein (Richard) of Lousiana, Missouri and Courtney Bartz (Robert) of Maywood, Missouri; she is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, one son Jamie Mayes, two sisters Cynthia Rae Scherder and Carol Lee King.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Monday, August 16, 2021 at the Garner Funeral Chapel, Monroe City, Missouri, Rev. Danny Kinzel will officiate. Burial will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Hunnewell, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Sunday evening at the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City, Missouri. Active pallbearers will be Howard Mudd, Aaron Utterback, Billy East, Bob Berry, Steve Harn and Matt Boehlein. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Cathy's grandchildren, Pam Hooper and Kim Lackey. Memorials have been suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garner Funeral Home & Chapel, Monroe City, Missouri.
