She was one of eight children born to Will Campbell and Lessie (Hightower) Campbell. She graduated from East Vocational High School in 1948. She joined the workforce right away as an office assistant. Shortly after finishing high school, her mother passed away in 1950. With three younger brothers still in school, she helped to raise Rufus, Floyd, and baby brother, Robert. She worked in Dayton, OH, Sheraton, IL, and Chicago, IL as a key puncher, supply clerk, entry accountant and lastly as an adjudicator in the Veterans administration. Prior to leaving Cincinnati, she ensured that her youngest brother, Robert, finished high school, and went on to graduate from Central State University. She retired after over 40 years of service with the federal government. She returned to Cincinnati to be closer to her three brother, and continued to volunteer with the AARP organization, and became an active member of Friendship Baptist Church in Lincoln Heights, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Henrietta, Oliver, Clifford, Rebecca, Rufus, Floyd, and Robert.
