On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, William Leroy Chambers, wonderful husband, father and PaPa, passed away at the age of 86.
Leroy was born on June 6, 1935, in Brownsboro, Texas to Johnie L. and Laura Mae Chambers.
After graduating from Brownsboro High School in 1953, Leroy began his career of being a hardworking man. He worked for General Electric, First State Bank of Brownsboro, Henderson County Tax Office and Chandler State Bank. He worked in the banking industry for 38 years. During this time, he was a very active member of his community and was a faithful member of Rock Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent for 40 years. He was one of the founding members of the Brownsboro Little Dribblers organization and served on the Brownsboro ISD School board for 12 years and the board for the Volunteer Fire Department for 5 years.
Leroy married Fayrene Herrington on June 23, 1956. They raised four children, Robert, Roy, Cheryl and Stephanie. Leroy enjoyed supporting them in their various activities as well as all his grandchildren. He was very proud of all their accomplishments. Leroy loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Chambers; sister, Sandra Frazier; brother-in-law, Rex Mann; daughter-in-law Pam Chambers.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Fayrene; sons, Robert Chambers and wife Michelle, Roy Chambers and wife Janice; daughters, Cheryl Tannehill and husband Tim, Stephanie Ballard and husband Zane; brother, John Chambers and wife Debbie; sister, Doris Mann. Leroy was blessed to have 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 15, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Rock Hill Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Rock Hill Cemetery.
