Luther O'Neal Adams, 76, of 104 Gertrude Street, Gaffney, S.C. passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum.
Born in Gaffney, S.C. he was the son of the late Wayne O'Neal Adams and Gertrude Gossett Sherill.
He was a graduate of Gaffney High School where he was the manager of the football and basketball teams, retired from textiles and construction, a U. S. Army veteran and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving is a daughter Gloria Paige Adams of Gaffney; a brother, Reverend L. B. Adams (Mary) of Murphy, N.C.; a grandson, Dakota Richards (Cassie); numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Colby Alexander Richards and three sisters, Gloria Nance, Patricia Dobson and Brenda Adams.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Church with Reverend Eddie Willis, Reverend L.B. Adams and Mr. Dakota Richards officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Drive, Landrum, SC. 29356.
The family will be at their respective homes.
