Mr. Mason was a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He was a patriotic man who treasured his time spent serving his country as a Marine and also serving his community as a Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy. He was a compassionate, caring and patient man who enjoyed working with his hands and sharing his knowledge; he was a brilliant handyman who could build or repair anything. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family, whom he dearly loved.
A memorial service for Mr. Mason will be announced at a later date.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Aileen Mason and sister, Sue Croft. Survivors include his wife, Hilda Padilla Mason; sons, Patrick Mason (Keisha), Jay Mason (Linda), James Mason; sister, Kathy Grady and brother, Larry Mason. Eight grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.
