PFC Eddie Jean Brown, Sr., 90, of Dunwoody Georgia, formerly of East Chicago Indiana, son of Jake Brown and Gertrude Norwood Brown, an honorably discharged United States Army and Korean War veteran who served as a Private First Class, passed away Saturday at Emory Decatur Hospital. On May 24, 1957, Eddie married Essie Brooks in Crown Point, Indiana. Eddie retired after 42 years of employment with Inland Steel Company in East Chicago, IN. He was a free and accepted Mason, and a member of Lakeside Lodge No. 47 with the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Indiana.

He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Essie B. Brooks Brown in 2007, his parents, and five siblings: William, Jerry, Ernest, King, and Frankie Mae. He is survived by two sons: Eddie (Jacqueline) Brown Jr. of Dunwoody, GA and Melvin (Cynthia) Brown of East Chicago, IN; one daughter, Jacqueline Brown of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 from noon to 8:00PM at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home, located at 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur, GA.

Celebration of Life Services for Eddie J. Brown will be held at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Roswell, GA with the Reverend Dr. Robert James officiating, on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 12:00PM. Burial will occur with military honors at 11:30AM on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the Georgia National Cemetery.
