Benjamin Blanton Kemp Jr., 71, of Lubbock Texas passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Friday, August 13, 2021 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, Texas with Pastor Robert "Bob" Pase officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home.
The Kemp family will receive friends on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at McNett Funeral Home.
"Benji" as he was always known to his friends and classmates, was born May 23, 1950 in Potter County, Texas to Benjamin Blanton Kemp, Jr. and Bertie Marie (Bentle) Kemp. His siblings, Botha Kemp and Melvina Crouch, survive.
He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1969 where he played football for the Mustangs. He later played football at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas.
Mr. Kemp was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Lu (Harrison) Kemp on August 9, 2017; his parents; and a sister, Benetta Kemp on May 7, 2009
