Gary Wayne / G.W. / Doc Underwood took his final breath of his earthly life on August 11, 2021 surrounded by his children. He was born November 23rd, 1943 to Bill and Dorothy Underwood.

Dad worked hard and played hard. He worked on the Rock Island / The Rock and Union Pacific Railroads for most of his life until an injury forced him to retire.

He served in the US Navy at a young age and was proud of his service. (Thank you for your service, Dad).

He loved Texas and was preparing to move back to his beloved home.

Dad never met a stranger. He had friends all over the US. Dad lived in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Utah, New York/New Jersey, Arizona, Nevada and Texas.

He loved to cook and share with friends, something he definitely passed onto his children.

He was definitely a gear head. Loved rebuilding and tinkering with old cars that he turned into art. He won a few awards for those pieces of art and was so proud of his accomplishments.

Dad loved his Harley and any motorcycle. He was able to make a trip to Sturgis, which he had always wanted to do. He rode those motorcycles shined them, accessorized them and thoroughly enjoyed them until he lost his ability to ride, which broke his heart, but definitely not his spirit.

Dad was a cowboy. He may not have had a horse, but he loved every part of it from the pressed jeans, cowboy hats, boots and southwestern art.

Dad loved to sing. His genre was old country. Thank you to Sal Santiago and his band for letting him sing with you. It was a highlight of his life.

Dad was also an artist. He loved to paint. He could paint a watercolor painting, an oil painting or pinstriping. He said he loved to watch the painting transform into something before his eyes.

Gary / Doc is survived by his brother, Larry Underwood and sister Lana (Lee) Wisely. He is also survived by his children Venora (Mark) Cole and Joseph Underwood. He was also blessed with 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved chihuahua, Piss-Ant.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister in law, Carolyn Underwood.

Services will not be held at this time. In his honor, raise one up! Dad always said "Keep your powder dry."

Love you Dad!!
