Obituary of Doris Rose Kyle Powell

The Lord is my shepherd, nothing shall I want.

Doris Rose (Kyle) Powell, age 61, of Weiser, Idaho, entered eternal life with her heavenly Father on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at home under hospice care with family and friends at her side.

Doris was born at High Wycombe Air Base, England on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1960. She was the sixth child born to John (Jack) and Esther Kyle. Her father served in the United States Air Force which gave her the opportunity to live in England, California, and Turkey. The family moved to Weiser in 1970. Doris was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. She was a person of faith and lived life serving others. She graduated from Weiser High School in the class of 1978.

She enjoyed camping, traveling, singing in the church choir and baking. She was the one that orchestrated every family get together which was never short of food, desserts, fun and laughter. Her competitive nature kicked into high gear whenever she played cards and board games, especially marbles.

She loved using her gift to create beautiful flower arrangements and took great pride in planting flowers in her flower garden for everyone to enjoy.

Doris cared for special needs individuals as an in-home caregiver for many years. One of her greatest achievements was when she graduated nursing school as a Registered Nurse on June 6, 2006, from Treasure Valley Community College. Her passion as a hospice nurse led her to working 15 years for Heart 'n' Home Hospice before retiring in 2021 due to health complications from aggressive breast cancer. She loved her coworkers at Heart 'n' Home Hospice like they were her second family and cherished all of them dearly. She was known in the community for being compassionate, sincere, and understanding with all of her patients and their families. She loved her career choice, and was excellent at it.

Doris will always be remembered for her deep compassion for all who knew her. She was a nurturer, caregiver, and a dedicated nurse that blessed countless lives. Her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and bubbly personality lit up the room wherever she went.

Doris had the unique ability of being able to balance her career with the duties of wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She provided a loving, nurturing home for her family, leaving them a legacy of strength, faith, compassion, and love.

Doris lost her precious son Joshua in November of 2003. She is preceded in death by her father Jack Kyle, and her sister Joyce Petty. She is survived by her husband of 41 ½ years.

Doris will be missed immensely, but never forgotten.

A rosary vigil is scheduled for Wednesday, August 4 at 7:00PM at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Weiser. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the church on Thursday, August 5, at 2:00PM. She requested to have everyone she's ever influenced to please come celebrate her life with her family.
