Ray E. Taylor, 89, of Fremont, Ohio passed away August 9, 2021 at his residence in Fremont.

He was born on February 5, 1932 to Walter and Ruth (Poling) Taylor in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

He married Roberta Ann (Daniell) Taylor on December 24, 1954. He and Roberta were married 58 years before her death February 5, 2013.

Ray is survived by his daughters Jennifer Taylor of Fremont, OH and Susan Taylor of Sacramento, CA. He also is survived by numerous extended family members including Bernard Cothern, Gene and Sherry Gangloff, Carolee Daniell and many nieces and nephews. Cherished family members of choice include Michael Jenkins, Jeff and Sharon Kuhns, Jo Shisler, and his beloved dog Carly.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, wife Roberta, infant son David, and siblings Ann, Jack, Don, Dottie, Paul, Tom, Evelyn, Sherlyn, and Jeanie.

Ray received his bachelor's degree from Salem College, and his masters from Kent State University. Many former students, parents, and teachers in the Fremont area remember him from his role as Director at Vanguard Vocational High School for nearly 20 years [Short Video]. As a young man he was stationed in Alaska as a member of the US Air Force during the Korean War. Later in life, he was on the Board of Directors for Terra State Community College, and was a member of several Masonic Organizations including Brainard Lodge #336, Fremont Chapter & Council #64, Fremont Commandery #56, and the Zenobia Shrine.

Over his lifetime, he enjoyed boating, golfing, water skiing, RVing and watching West Virginia Mountaineers Football. He also enjoyed helping family and friends with various building projects.

Memorial contributions in Ray's honor may be gifted to the School of Hope, 1001 Castalia St, Fremont, OH 43420

A celebration of life will be held at a future time post pandemic.
