Obituary from eckersellfuneralhome.com:
Dennis Ray Baker, 77, of Rigby, ID, returned to his Heavenly home on August 6th, 2021. He was born May 3rd, 1944 in Rigby Idaho, to Elmer and Beth Baker. He was the oldest of six children, followed by Julie, Gary, Janet, Sandra, and Carol. He graduated from Rigby High School in 1962.
After graduation he spent a short time in California working with family plastering swimming pools. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Air Force as a firefighter and served during Vietnam.
He married Shirley Alexander and together they had two children, Todd and Cory. They later divorced. In 1973 he met and married his eternal companion, Rozalee Taylor, and they were sealed in the LDS temple in 1980. Together they had five children: Ronalee, Matthew, Collin, Jeb, and Chad.
Dennis helped his father install floor coverings and learned the trade, which led to he and Larry Shuldberg opening D & L Carpets in Rigby, Idaho operating for over 30 years. They worked hard but never forgot to have fun along the way with this business adventure. He worked a few other jobs over the years, but none gave him the joy and satisfaction of operating a business with his brother-in-law.
He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many capacities, including the Bishopric, Sunday School, primary, and enjoyed working in the young men's program. In the scouting program where he also served, he found value in helping his and so many other sons achieve their Eagle Scout Awards. At the time of his death, he was serving in the baptistry in the Idaho Falls Temple and as a missionary in the Addiction Recovery Program. He loved serving and those with whom he served with.
Dennis was an avid outdoorsman. He would do anything that kept him outside particularly if it involved a motor. Riding motorcycles was his favorite. He looked for any opportunity to enjoy the graces of nature. He never had any spare time as he always had something to do. It could be helping a neighbor or friend, it could be tinkering or creating something new in his shop, or it could be doing one more carpet job to provide one more opportunity or experience for his children. His love for others was relentless.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He seldom had a conversation where he didn't express his affection towards them as they were his greatest joy.
He is survived by his wife, Rozalee Baker, his children: Todd Braddock of Boise; Cory (Lynette) Braddock of Chandler, Arizona; Ronalee (Troy) Williams of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Collin Baker of Ririe, Idaho; Jeb (Jenny) Baker of Boise, Idaho; Chad (Amy) Baker of Pocatello, Idaho. He has been blessed with 21 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Adam Baker ,and his parents.
