Phyllis Ovanda Weaver Simmons, 90 of Waynesboro, VA went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 9, 2021. Born in Roanoke, VA on July 29, 1931, daughter of the late Cline Carson Weaver and Mamie Elizabeth Mercer Weaver.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Lee Simmons Jr,, her brothers, Carlisle Weaver and Harry Weaver, her son-in-law, Rev. Gary S. Hodges, and a grandson, Christopher Davis Simmons. She is survived by her 3 children, Kenneth Simmons III and his wife Brenda, of Airville, PA, Donna Hodges of Waynesboro, VA and Cordell Simmons and his wife, Sandy of Roanoke, VA, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, 7 nieces and nephews, many wonderful neighbors and a special long-time friend, Carol Lawson.

Phyllis retired from ITT as a quality control inspector after 30 years of service. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loyal friend to many. She was a hoot, always the life of the party and there was never a dull moment when she was around. Phyllis was a very generous woman and absolutely adored her family and loved the Lord. She stole the hearts of many, stood by her word, loved unconditionally, and you always knew where she stood.

The family will receive friends at Oakey's North Chapel in Roanoke, VA on Friday, August 13th from 12:30pm – 1:30pm. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00pm at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Ken Schwalje officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to all the staff at hospice, especially Kim Lowry and Susan Williams, the Shenandoah House, and The Retreat at Fishersville for the loving, compassionate care given to Phyllis in her final days.

Pallbearers will be Ken Simmons III, Cordell Simmons, Dustin Howdyshell, Caleb Showalter, Seth Showalter and Colton Showalter.
