CMSgt (Ret) William Henry "Bill" Rodgers, 80, of Fort Walton Beach, passed away on August 11th. He was an avid fisherman and, as a Philadelphia native, a fan of the Phillies and Eagles. Bill had a distinguished 30-year career in the U.S. Air Force. During the Vietnam War, he provided life-saving medical treatment and was hand-selected to be on the first crew to bring back American POWs in Operation Homecoming, which he considered to be the highlight of his career. Bill is survived by his wife, Nieves; his children: Cristina Rodgers Carpenter (Tim), Michael, Bill Jr, Eric, and Jeff; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be Monday, August 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Emerald Coast Funeral Home with Chaplain Beth Bateson officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM with full military honors. 

He was predeceased by both parents, John Black Rodgers and Sara Edna Patton, both sisters, Rita and Florence and 3 brothers, Robert, John, Jr. and Roger Harding.
