Shirley Marie Morgan 19 Jan 1933 - 31 Jul 2021
Shirley M. Morgan passed away peacefully Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the age of 88. She was born January 19, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio; the daughter of James "Art" and Dorothy "Dottie" Sharrock, both deceased. Shirley had one brother, Buddy Sharrock, who preceded her in death as well.
Shirley went to Hughes High School and completed her freshman year; when she had to leave school to help her father run the family grocery store, when Dottie Sharrock became ill. She enjoyed knitting as a young girl, and knitted squares for afghans to send to soldiers in WWII. She also loved to sew, making several of her childern's clothing for school and play. She also made beautiful quilts for the family to treasure and use through the years. She enjoyed camping and spending vacations in Florida with her second husband's family.
Shirley worked as a young girl in her Dad's grocery store, learning to do all the bookkeeping for the running of the family store. She worked as a bookkeeper her whole adult life, taking time off to raise her three children. She retired from bookkeeping at Leon's Supply in Cincinnati, Ohio in October of 2000.
In 1950, Shirley married James Rapien (deceased) and gave him three children. They divorced in 1965 after 14 years of marriage. She then married Wendell Baird (deceased) on August 30, 1966. They enjoyed 24 years of marriage. They loved camping in Kentucky by the Ohio River and attending the Indianapolis 500 time trials and the 500 race each year. Shirley and Wendell divorced in 1986 shortly before Wendell's death in 1986. Shirley's 3rd marriage was to Leonard Morgan on September 26, 1987. They were married for 29 years. Shirley owned a 4-Family apartment building they maintained and ran for 25 years, Shirley's marriage ended when she became ill with dementia and she moved in with her daughter in St. Johns, MI in 2017.
In January, 2019, Shirley was moved to Ovid Healthcare in Ovid, MI to which she resided until her death. Shirley was predeceased in death by a son, Dan Rapien of Blossom, TX., one brother, Buddy (Roberta) Sharrock of Cincinnati, OH. Surviving are one son, James (Marlene) Rapien, of Cincinnati, OH; and one daughter, Diana (Edward) Rasdale of St. Johns, MI.
Grandchildren, Bradley (Nina) Hammonds, Candy (Jeff) Sabers, Angie (Jon) Davis, Selena (Eddie) Canupp, Trapper Rapien, Cedar Rapien; Shannon Flach and Christopher Flach are deceased. .
Great grandchildren, Jason Hammonds, Cameron (Cheyene) Hammonds, Angel Hammonds, Alex Hammonds, Robert Hammonds, Kayla Davis, Carson Sabers, Landon Sabers, Parker Sabers, Camilla Canupp, Lily Canupp, La'Tadrian Rapien, Malaki Rapien, and Trapper's children.
Great-Great Grandchildren, Cypress Armstrong and Liberty Hammonds.
Funeral arraignments are being handled by Vickers Funeral Homes. There will be no services in Michigan. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. A small service with family only will be held at a future date in Cincinnati, Ohio. Memorials may be made to Hospice or Ovid Healthcare, 9480 E. M-21, Ovid, MI 48866.
