Ruth Evelyn Harrington, age 110 of Calvert City, KY died on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Rivers Bend Retirement Community in Kuttawa, KY.

Born Saturday, May 6, 1911 on a farm in West Tennesee, she was the daughter of the late John Nathaniel Porter and the late Leila Ada (Frieburg) Porter.

Mrs. Harrington, beloved mother and grandmother, married her late husband, Paul Harrington, Sr., in 1927. They had 7 children. They purchased the indoor Calvert Theatre on Main Street in 1950 before building the Calvert Drive -In Theatre in 1953. In 1954, they moved from Covington, TN to operate the drive-in. The Calvert Drive-In has been operated by her family for four generations and is known for its good service and the best burgers in the area. Evelyn worked alongside her family well into her 80's and even into her 90's she could often be found handing out tickets to her customers. During her lifetime, she has survived 18 American presidents, Prohibition, two world wars, and two global pandemics. Evelyn was a member of Calvert City United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Steve Harrington of Calvert City, KY, Mike Harrington of Calvert City, KY; grandchildren, Paul Harrington III, Mary Ellen Nelson, James Priestly Harrington, Elaine Watkins, John Andrew Harrington, Pamela Faye Schott, Nathan Harrington; 21 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; and 4 great great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Harrington, Sr.; sons, Paul Harrington, Jr., John Neal Harrington; daughters, Patsy Harrington Weir, Helen Lynn Harrington Goheen; brothers, John Nathaniel Porter, Jr., William Douglas Porter, Clay Hampton "Hamp" Porter, William Nathanial Porter; sister, Helen Louise (Porter) Harrington and grandson, James Michael Goheen.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery, Newbern, TN, with Rev. Ryan Heatherly officiating.

Interment will follow the service in Fairview Cemetery, Newbern, TN.

No public visitation is scheduled.
