James Edward Haase, 52, of Cole Camp, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021, at his home. He was born on November 16, 1968, in Sedalia, Missouri, a son of Calvin James Franklin and Mary Louise (Kreisler) Haase.

In 1987, he graduated from Cole Camp High School. While in high school, he began working at Der Essen Platz in Cole Camp and worked there until it closed. On July 22, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, he was united in marriage to Sonya Kay Rath. This union was blessed with the gift of a daughter, Alivia Marie.

On December 23, 2007, he was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp by Rev. Todd Kollbaum. He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp by Rev. Todd Kollbaum on April 27, 2008.

James worked as head cook at Benton County R-1 in Cole Camp for 18 years, where he was loved and cherished by everyone, including staff and students. He also served as head of maintenance at the Community Retirement Village in Cole Camp. James was very involved in all of Alivia's extracurricular activities and enjoyed taking pictures of every special moment. He was a family man that put everyone, including Alivia, above himself and cherished every minute with his friends and family.

He is survived by his daughter, Alivia Marie Haase of the home; his mother, Mary Haase of Cole Camp; his sisters, Susan Arms and her husband Stephen and Teresa Olsen and her husband Tony, all of Cole Camp; his brothers, Calvin Haase, Jr. and his wife Brenda and John Haase and his wife Heather, all of Cole Camp; his father- and mother-in-law, Tom and Janie Rath of Cole Camp; a brother-in-law, Michael Rath and his wife Kelli of Lincoln; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sonya Haase, his father, Calvin Haase, Sr., and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp with Pastor Gregory Truwe officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Cole Camp.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp.

Pallbearers will be John Haase, Sr., Calvin Haase, Jr., John Haase, Jr., Casey Denney, Tom Rath, Greg Eichholz, Darren Balke, and Coleman Haase. Honorary pallbearers will be Leslie Hesse, Pam Pilant, Teagan Harrison, Gayla Hickman, Melissa Viebrock, Melanie Hare, and Coraleen Balke
