Jose Reyes-Zarate

Born: Jan 17, 1959 Died: Aug 3, 2021

Mr. Jose A. Reyes-Zarate, 67, passed away on August 3, 2021, after fighting a long battle with illness.

Jose Antonio was born in Irapuato, Guanajuato Mexico on January 17, 1954, to Luis Reyes and Esther Reyes. Jose married Mary Reyes on July 9, 1977 and were happily married for forty-four years.

Jose was a resident of Galveston/Texas City, Texas and worked for twenty-one years at the Local 20 Maritime in Galveston. Jose was a hard-working and loving husband, father, and a great person to everyone even if he just met you. He worked very hard for his family so they could have a better life. He loved watching CNN news, wrestling, and "futbol" games with his family. He also enjoyed eating fish and "pan dulce."

Jose is survived by his wife, Mary Reyes, of Irapuato, Guanajuato Mexico; two loving daughters, Ana Luisa Reyes Del Valle and Jessica Reyes Hughes; two sons in- law, Johnny Joe Pulido and Larry Jean Hughes Jr; three grandchildren, William Edward Diaz Jr., Michael Alexander Pulido, and Larry Jean Hughes III. He was also survived by five sisters and two brothers of Mexico.

In lieu of normal remembrances, family and friends can make blood donations in his honor and make any monetary donations to the Transplant & Cancer Services.

We want to say a special thanks to the nurses and doctors on the 10th floor of Jennie Sealy Hospital and Nurse Practitioner Monica O'Donohoe for their care thru all these years.

We will always love you Papi and you will never be forgotten.
