Obituary for Hal Everitt (H.E.) Williams
Harrell Everitt Williams was born on August 30, 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas to John W. and Geneva Thell Williams and passed away on August 7, 2021 in Allen, Texas. As a young boy, he lived in Edinburg, San Antonio and Fort Worth, Texas. While in Fort Worth, he was active in the Boy Scouts. After moving to Richardson, he became interested in band and played the clarinet and in high school was first chair bass clarinet in the Golden Eagle Band. Upon graduation from Richardson High School, he received an appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Bordelon, WWII Gearing Class destroyer. He was honorably discharged in 1971. While he was in college, he was a Sports Writer for the Denton Record Chronicle. Upon graduation he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Texas State University, with a major in Journalism. After graduation, not being able to find a suitable job in journalism, he took a job at Cummins Diesel as a diesel technician where he was able to use the skills he had learned in the Navy. Hal truly enjoyed his job working on engines, but he realized that he really wanted to be able to make use of his journalistic skills. He eventually found a way, being a Free-lance photographer for Malone Corporate Communications and as a Special Features Writer for the Dallas Times Herald.

Hal eventually found a job as a Press Information Specialist for Mercedez-Benz of North America and moved to New Jersey. He got to travel to Germany to make a test drive for one of their new models, and he loved having that opportunity. He later accepted a position as a Public Relations Representative for Porsche Cars of North America in Reno, Nevada. While living in Nevada, he did cross-country skiing and spent time at Lake Tahoe, one of his very favorite places. In 1993 he became the Director of Marketing for Nevada Automotive Test Center. While there, one of his tasks was to test drive the military Humvee.

In later years, he was a self-employed consultant for Blak Racing, Barron Racing and Bigger Hammer Racing. As a car racing enthusiast, he was a member of SCCA-Sports Car Club of America and CVAR-Corinthians Vintage Racing Association. Over the years, he drove some of the cars, worked on their engines, crewed and was the tech inspector for many of the races.

Hal's hobbies included stamp collecting, hunting with his blue tick hounds, model railroading and riding motorcycles. He loved photography and was very good at it. He also loved doing road rallies because driving was one of his favorite things to do. As part of that hobby, he was Chief of Flagging for the Texas Region, SCCA. He also collected guns and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was always an avid reader and wrote and self-published two novels. In 2006, he and his wife joined in a family Caribbean cruise and was able to get in a few bridge games...a game he loved to play at every opportunity.

He is survived by his daughter Holly Elizabeth Williams of Dallas, TX, his sister Jonathell Meyer of Allen, Texas, his nephews Scott Anthony Meyer and Jonathan Stephen Meyer and several grand nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Monday, August 16, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home.
Graveside Service will be Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 10:30 AM at the Dallas-Forth Worth National Cemetery, arrive in Lane 3 beginning at 10:00 AM.
