Francis Allen "Flip" Wilson, 83, of Soddy Daisy, died Monday, August 9th at his home. Lieutenant Wilson retired from Hamilton County Sheriff's departments after 30 years of service. He was an avid bass fisherman and competed in regional bass tournaments and was a field representative for Strike King Lures. He owned and operated a bait and tackle shop for several years and continued to make custom fishing rods. His prize catch included a muskie caught in flood waters off Soddy Lake pier, a 21 pound striper and too many small and large mouth bass to count.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sheila Maureen Wilson; children, Dorenda (Jim) Young, Stephanie (Keith) Harden, Michael Wilson, Lisa (Vance) Clayton and Jonathan (Mysti) Wilson; grandchildren, Jason Young, Daniel Harden, Ashley Espinosa, Zachary Wilson, Hayley Timms, Rachel Parker, Joel Clayton, Kealceane Wilson and Caleb Wilson; great grandchildren, Lily Young, Jane Young, Nate Young, Gavinn Harden, Aubrey Harden, Landon Harden, Kirsten Wilson, Charleigh Wilson and Cruz Espinosa; siblings, Tommy Wilson and Becky Hicks; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents Francis Luther Wilson and Virginia Vandercammen Wilson.



The family will receive friends and loved ones from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the funeral home. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
