Peggy "Pidge" Jo Butler Willis, age 82, of Arden, NC passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Ashton Park Health Care Center in Asheville.

Peggy was born on July 8, 1939 in Buncombe County to the late Arthur Butler and Dessie Anderson Butler.

She was a homemaker and was hardworking, independent, sassy and stubborn and at the same time, she was a very caring and loving mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.

Peggy had a great sense of humor and enjoyed going to antique shops and thrift stores. She loved to play the lottery and slot machines and she was a great cook and was known for her peanut butter candy. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Fender; and a grandson, Robert Peterson.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Virginia (Vincent Bustamente) Hernandez of Candler, and Brenda (Charlie) Alvarez of Spartanburg, SC; two sons, Jerry Willis of Candler and Brian Willis of Spartanburg; a sister, Carolyn Camby of Arden; a brother, Arthur Butler of Skyland; thirteen grandchildren, Victoria (Andrew) Pickens of Asheville, Crystal (Randy) Barnett of Arden, Vanessa (Andre) McDonald of Hendersonville, April Burroughs of Canton, Roberto Carrero of Spartanburg, Alicia Willis of Silverthorne, CO, Hailey Willis of Spartanburg, Melissa (Sydney) Panzer of Kansas City, KS, Arthur Madden of Swannanoa, John Madden of Candler, Emily Madden of Flag Pond, TN, Stephanie (John) Stephens of Woodstock, GA, and Amanda Madden of Flag Pond, TN; sixteen great-grandchildren, Leila and Carter Pickens, and Talib Ledford, all of Asheville, Ethan Jepsen and Tristan Wood, both of Arden, Antonio Carson and Ariana McDonald, both of Hendersonville, Matthew and Isaac Burroughs, both of Canton, Noah Peterson of Swannanoa, Roberto, Augustus, and Magnus Carrero of Spartanburg, Avery Ingram of Kansas City, KS, Jaxon Madden of Candler, NC and Landon Stephens of Woodstock, GA.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
