Ethel Jean Lane Robinson affectionately known as "Jean" was born February 9, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama to the union of Milton and Betty Lane. Both parents preceded her in death. Ethel was one of ten siblings, five of whom also preceded her in death, James, Christine, Carole, Bernadette and Adrian. At the age of thirteen, after the passing of her mother, Ethel was brought to Cleveland, Ohio to be reared by her cousins, Velma and John Maiden, who became her second set of parents. At that time, she was blessed with other siblings; two sisters, Vonzetta and Gaynell and two brothers, Vernon and Byron. Much love and happiness was shown in this family. Gaynell, Vernon and Byron all preceded her in death.

Ethel received her education in the Alabama School system and after relocating to Cleveland, Ohio, she was a proud graduate of John Hay High
School in 1957.

On December 30, 1960, Ethel was blessed with the love of her life, her son, Stephon Andrew Lane. At a young age, Stephon took drum lessons every Saturday and was accompanied by his mom and her friend, Sandra. Ethel always made sure that Stephon was dressed nice and had everything he needed, that was "her one and only baby." In 1982, Jean was once again blessed with the birth of her only grandchild, Chaz Mione Paul and instantly gained that grandmother's glow which accentuated her beauty and she gave him the love that only a grandmother could give.

Ethel's employment consisted of various places being a butcher at each one: Pick-n-Pay, DinnerBell Meats, Kroger, and as a barmaid at Jamaica Breeze. She later worked for and retired from the City of Cleveland. During the time she lived in Cleveland, she was a member of Starlight Missionary Baptist Church. After relocating to Xenia, Ohio in 2014; Jean became a member of First United Christian Church in 2017. Jean had a loving spirit which was extended to all she knew; she never knew a stranger and became a mother figure to some. She had a special heart for young people and became the neighborhood mom. Jean talked so fast that she could have been an auctioneer. (smile)

Jean was a fun and outspoken person. She loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. She loved to dress and was always matching from head to toe. Her most enjoyable pastimes consisted of having a goodtime, enjoying making others happy with entertainment, cooking (Bar-B-Que), shopping, attending concerts, going to the casino, listening to music and traveling. Her first flight was a visit to Hawaii.

During her illness, Jean was well taken care of by her son, Stephon. Jean leaves to cherish her memory: her loving son, Stephon; one grandson,
Chaz; sisters, Gwen (Tommy), Odetha (Leroy) and Vonzetta aka "Fluffy"; brothers, Milton Jr. aka"Boy"(Debra), Donald Sr.; best friend, Sandra Douglas;
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many friends. Obutuary from Newcomer Funeral
