Pedro Serrato Castillo was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He died unexpectedly on July 29, 2021, at the age of 93.
He was born to Arcadio Castillo and Julia Serrato on February 17, 1928, in General Zaragoza, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Pedro's greatest joys in life were hunting, fishing, gardening and his 1968 Ford Bronco. He worked at Linneman Ranch near Firebaugh, California for 25 years.
Maria Lucinda Castillo was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on August 4, 2021, at the age of 93.
She was born to Tomas Martinez and Maria Davalos on July 25, 1928, in Raymondville, Texas.
Lucinda's greatest joy in life was caring for and being surrounded by her family. She was famous amongst her family and friends for her Mexican rice, beans, and homemade flour tortillas.
Pedro and Lucinda were married in Edinburg, Texas on May 20th, 1958. They shared 63 years together filled with both joy and struggles while raising their family. Upon retirement in 1993, they moved from Linneman Ranch to Fresno, California.
They are survived by their children, Rene Castillo, Ernesto Castillo, Ernestina Castillo Perez, Pedro Castillo Jr., Maria del Carmen Castillo Mercado, Hector Javier Castillo, Oscar Castillo, their spouses and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Pedro is also survived by his brother, Jose Castillo, and his sisters Trinidad Vargas and Severa Castillo. He is predeceased by his brother Alejandro Castillo and his sisters Tomasa Castillo, Vicenta Arreazola and Maria De La Rosa.
Lucinda is also survived by her son Luciano De Leon and predeceased by her sons Guadalupe Sanchez Martinez and Miguel De Leon. She is also survived by her sisters Maria Ignacia Torres, Irene Martinez, and her brother Tomas D. Martinez and predeceased by her sisters Odilia Martinez and I. Martinez.
A viewing and Rosary are scheduled for August 17th, from 5-8 pm, followed by a funeral service on August 18th at 9 am. Both will be held at The Chapel of the Light, 1620 W. Belmont Ave., Fresno, California. A lunch reception will follow at Our Lady of Victory, 2838 N. West Ave., Fresno, California.
