Our old cowboy, John R. "Jack" McClure, rode off into the sunset on Christmas Day, 2020 at the age of 96. Jack was born in Marion County Iowa on November 11, 1924 to James W. and Agnes Katherine Lee McClure. He attended school at the Pleasant Grove Country School. Jack was a rancher and cowboy raising cattle near Lovilia all his life. He loved the land and the animals that he was entrusted to care for. He retired a few years ago moving to Homestead Assisted Living in Chariton.

Jack had a deep faith and was a member at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Lovilia until he moved to Chariton and transferred his membership to Sacred Heart. The most important thing to Jack, in addition to being a cowboy and his strong faith; was his love for family. Jack married Wilma Bingham Cappellin later in life, and although they were only married a short time before her sudden death, he had known her and her daughter Linda since the age of 5. He always treated Linda like his own and enjoyed being a grandfather and great grandfather to her family. Jack will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews; his daughter, Linda (John) Braida and their family; and many friends.
