Mary was born in Paisley to James McIntyre Brock and his wife Mary Ann nee Gillespie. Mary worked in the bleachworks and, in 1915 in Glasgow, she married William Woods Green, a soldier serving in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. They were married only a few years and had two children together before William was killed in action. Mary died soon after at 20 years of age. Her first born Janet, died in infancy and is buried here with her . Her younger daughter, also called Mary, was left an orphan and resided with her maternal grandfather for a few years before emigrating to U.S.A. with her Aunt, Agnes Rushforth nee Brock, the older sister of her mother.
