Son of the late William Anderson Marshall and Sarah Josephine May Marshall.

He is survived by many cousins, including the family of John Richard May Jr., with whom he had his happiest times in recent years.

Tom attended Clark Elementary School and graduated from Rock Hill Academy where he was a manager for the football team. He earned an Associate of Science Degree in Park Management from Lake City Community College in Lake City, Florida.

He worked for the Virginia Department of Water Control and served as a University of Virginia police officer. He was a National Park Service volunteer and a member of the Albemarle Ruritan Club.

Later, he lived at Mountainside Senior Living in Crozet VA, where he was for many years a thoughtful friend to older residents suffering from Alzheimer's.

He loved deer hunting, the Statler brothers, World War II history, The Sound of Music and vacations at Greenbrier State Park in West Virginia, Virginia's Douthat State Park and the Peaks of Otter. He traveled to many National Parks across the nation.

The family wishes to thank Randall T. Bashore, MD, the staff at Envoy at the Village and the staff of the erstwhile Mountainside Senior Living JABA facility.

Memorial donations may be made to Region Ten CSB, Attn: Fiscal, P.O. Box 164, Charlottesville, VA 22902, or to the United Methodist Church's Charlottesville District, 914 East Jefferson St., Suite 104, Charlottesville, VA 22902, for the benefit of Rachel's Haven, a residence for disabled orphaned adults.
