Peggy Eloise Tatum, 79, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at her home. Graveside services will be held at the Hawley Cemetery on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 10:00am.

Born July 11, 1941, in Anson, Tx Peggy was the daughter of Charlie D. Taylor and Frankie Lee (McBride) Taylor. Peggy was raised in Lawn, Tx and graduated from Jim Ned High School. In August 1959, Peggy married the love of her life, Richard Don Tatum. This was a love that goes on forever. She would have hunted him down as soon as her feet hit the golden streets of Heaven, but he was there waiting for her. Don and Peggy started their family and moved to Hawley, Tx in 1970. They became members of the community and the First Baptist Church in Hawley. Peggy raised her family with a loving heart and gentle hands; never a complaint about life.

Peggy had a zest for life and enjoyed family and friends; she never met a stranger! A mother, a granny and such a beautiful soul. She will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Taylor and Frankie Owens; her husband, Don Tatum and one daughter in law, Amber Tatum.

Survivors include her brother, Wayne Tucker of Wyoming; 3 children, Charlie Tatum, Debra Harris and Jay Tatum all of Hawley; 4 grandchildren, Makenzy and Blake Carnes of Hawley, Tanner and Maddison Jones of Abilene, Kyla Tatum of Clyde, and JayDon Tatum of Hawley. She also enjoyed 2 great grandchildren, Kellin and Rowan Carnes and many nieces, nephews, and so many others she called her kids.

Special thanks to her niece, Melissa Martin, who provided lots of love and wonderful care to her in her last days and to Hospice of the Big Country for the great group of people who do such a great job. In lieu of flowers, Peggy asked that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Group in Hawley.
