Dick proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked as a mechanic and welder for many years, retiring as a welder from Fruehauf Corporation after 25 plus years. Dick enjoyed many hobbies throughout his lifetime. He restored several cars and trucks. He loved to hunt and fish. Duck hunting was serious business! He always had hunting dogs, trained to perfection, that kept him company and assisted him while hunting. He enjoyed collecting antiques with his wife Dorothy. He enjoyed horses. Music was a part of him. He was always singing, dancing, and playing the guitar.
Dick is survived and will be greatly missed by his one daughter, 2 sons, 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Dorothy; parents, Garry and Pauline Porter; brother, Larry Porter; sister, Sue Lyle and granddaughter, Amber.
Follow Dick's sense of adventure and live by his last words: Happy-Go-Lucky.
