Charles served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956 and the reserves until 1961. He loved to share stories of this time, especially, of his time spent abroad. He worked for the Missouri State Highway Department and was an independent contractor before settling on a career with General Motors from which he retired in 1991. He enjoyed his retirement years by traveling, woodworking and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his family and gave the best hugs.
Charles is survived by his wife Linda; two sons; Charles Bowman Jr. and his wife Patricia of Griffin, Georgia; Terry Bowman and his wife Christine of Gladstone, MO; two daughters: Shari Duncan and her husband Bud of Osawatomie, KS; Melinda Sperandio and her husband David of Jefferson City, MO. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Allen Bowman, his parents, six brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services were held on Thursday August 12, 2021. Burial at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
