Michael Sebastian Merle, 85 of Wadsworth, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2012.

Born in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of Sebastian and Rose (Rossy) Merle. A graduate of Kenmore High School, he was a 35 year veteran of the Akron Fire Department. He retired in 1989 as District Fire Chief.

"Pop" to us, "dad" to everyone, he was devoted to his children, grandchildren and community. He leaves a legacy of unselfish giving to others, patience, kindness, along with unconditional love, along with his beautiful smile, sense of humor and keen intelligence will live on forever.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph C. Merle.

He leaves his wife, Louise; plus seven children and 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Mary.

Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 13th at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
