George Baxter, 84, of 2223 S. 8th Street, Sheboygan Wis., died Tuesday, March 26, 1991, at his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born March 11, 1907, in Milwaukee Wis., the son of the late Eugene and Ella (Hackbarth) Baxter. George was employed with the Kohler Co. and with the Hayssen Co. for many years, retiring in 1973. After retiring, he was employed with the Sheboygan Parking Utility. He was a sergeant in the Wisconsin National Guard in the Calvary Division; and was also a founding member and Corp Master of the Sheboyganites Drum and Bugle Corp for many years.
On October 5, 1935, he married Florence Becker at SL Andrew Lutheran Church, in Sheboygan.
He was a member at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, located at South 11th and Broadway in Sheboygan
Survivors include his wife, his 100 year old mother-in-law, Lena Becker, of Sunny Ridge Nursing Home; three sons, Warner L (Judith) Baxter; Lyle E. (Wanda) Williams and Lane Brian Baxter, all of Sheboygan; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Hazel Franke, Mrs. Lorraine Biedermann, Mrs. Anita Knoll and Mrs. Clyde (Myrtle) Fredericks, all of Milwaukee and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Donald (Doris) Baxter, of Elm Grove Wis. and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday. March 28, 1991, at St. Andrew Church located at South 11th and Broadway, in Sheboygan, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Paul Baumann, pastor, officiating. Family services will proceed at 1:45 p.m. Friends may call at the church from 12:30 p.m., Thursday, until the time of services. Burial will take place at Lutheran Mausoleum. A memorial fund will be established, in his name, for the church. Huehns Funeral Home, of Sheboygan Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
