Earl Joseph Mire, a resident of Gonzales and native of Duplessis, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 95 and retired from the Army Corps of Engineers.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Juliette and Kenneth Poche and Lynette and Tom Felter; a son, Michael Mire; a brother, Louis Mire; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Ganier Mire; parents, Nestor and Juliette Mire; and four sisters.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
