Marylee Armstrong Post had resided in Walnut Creek, CA since 1952. Marylee died in her home surrounded by her whole family including her husband of 66 years, Richard F. Post. Marylee married Richard in 1946, graduated from Pomona College in 1947 and had three children, Steve, Markie and Rodney in the eight years following their marriage. Marylee grew up in Whittier, CA the only daughter of Olin and Helen Armstrong. She was the youngest child with two older brothers, Victor and Glenn Armstrong. Marylee remembered her childhood as being simple and idyllic despite the privations of the times.

A wonderful writer and poet, she later wrote an appreciation of the 23rd Psalm as related to the Basque sheepherders that roamed the hills above her home, keeping watch over their sheep and the two little girls (Marylee and her best friend Marjorie) who played nearby. Marylee brought the same spiritual sensibility to the way she lived her life. She saw value in every person she encountered and she imparted that quality of loving acceptance to her children, her husband and her friends. As the world got more complex, Marylee kept current and grappled with things as they were, not as she wished them to be, yet always maintained her center. It is these qualities for which her family wishes her to be remembered.

Marylee is survived by her husband Richard, her children; Steve, Rodney and Markie , their spouses; Linda Post, Analillian Post and Michael Ross, and granddaughters Alex, Annalisa , Maggie Lee, Kate and Daisy. There will be a memorial service on June 9 at 11:00am at Hillcrest Congregational Church in Pleasant Hill CA where Marylee was a member for nearly 50 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Outreach Fund at Hillcrest Church, 925-689-8260.
